The standard number line, used in schools to teach students how to count, add and subtract integers and do fractions, has created a paradigm wherein most of us — primarily, if not exclusively — use linear logic for problem-solving. The deficiencies of linear logic have insidiously led our population into a wide-spread shortsightedness, while personal, social, economical, ecological and environmental problems go unchecked. As Einstein so wisely said, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
